Required Display Information
Optional orientation and colour records differ from essential image data.
Why a picture can look different
Orientation metadata can tell a viewer to rotate a photo. A colour profile can influence how colours are displayed. Optional display records are metadata, but changing them can change the appearance of the exported copy.
A separate Expert choice
Optional display removal is off by default. Expert shows a consequence explanation before enabling it. This release handles only tested optional records in supported JPEG, PNG and WebP structures; unsupported display operations are blocked.
Essential data remains protected
Encoded image data, dimensions and essential container records cannot be removed. A display-metadata presence check is not a verification of rendered appearance. The output receipt separates metadata checks from browser decode checks and any orientation change.
