What is EXIF metadata?

Learn about capture details, location, timestamps and the information needed for correct display.

A record of capture and editing

EXIF can describe camera settings, capture times, device identifiers, location and image orientation. Other metadata containers can hold overlapping information, so inspection and removal must be scoped to tested structures.

Keep the information you still need

Auto selects supported AI/editing, Personal Information and embedded credential removal. Copyright and optional display information stay kept by default; Expert offers separate removal choices. Essential image data always stays protected. Review the findings before sharing; a filename or the picture itself can also reveal personal information.

Read the receipt

Removed describes supported fields checked in the exported copy. Kept describes retained information. Not checked describes the limits of inspection; it is not an empty-metadata result.
